Is there a way to ensure section access restrictions are applied automatically without manually selecting dimensions first?
Issue: When using the Mail & Deploy extension in Qlik Sense for apps with section access, all data is exported, ignoring the limitations defined by section access. Data is only limited if a dimension (on which you already have access) is explicitly selected.
Solution:
There are two options to address this issue:
Option A: Use the "Field Names" Property in the Qlik Sense Self-Service Extension
What It Does:
The Field Names property in the Mail & Deploy self-service extension allows you to specify one or more field names.
During a report request, the possible (or selected) values for these fields will be sent to the Mail & Deploy server.
Before the report is created, the values will be applied as filters to the respective fields, ensuring that the report respects the section access restrictions of the user initiating the request.
Steps to Implement:
In the Mail & Deploy Qlik Sense Self-Service Extension, navigate to the settings.
Locate the Field Names property.
Specify the relevant field(s) where section access restrictions apply.
Example: If your section access is based on the field Region
, add Region
to the Field Names property.
Save your changes and test the export to confirm that only the allowed data is included in the report.
Important Consideration:
Option B: Use the Mail & Deploy Version with Full Section Access Support
What It Does:
Mail & Deploy offers a version that fully supports section access, ensuring that data restrictions defined in Qlik Sense are applied automatically.
This approach eliminates the need to manually configure field names or filters.
How to Access This Version:
Contact your Mail & Deploy partner or support team to arrange a Q&A session.
During the session, discuss your requirements and evaluate the Mail & Deploy version with section access.
By selecting the appropriate solution, you can ensure that section access restrictions in your Qlik Sense apps are properly applied when exporting data with Mail & Deploy.
