Resolving "Input String Was Not in a Correct Format" Error When Adding a Table to an Excel Report

Resolving "Input String Was Not in a Correct Format" Error When Adding a Table to an Excel Report

Issue: When attempting to add a Qlik native straight table to an Excel report in Mail & Deploy, you may encounter the error:

QuoteInput string was not in a correct format.

This issue occurs even though the table can be successfully added as an image, but it fails when added as a table object.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Reset Styling for the Table:
  • In Qlik Sense or QlikView, locate the straight table that you want to add to the report.
  • Reset any custom styling applied to the table. This includes removing any non-default formatting for:
    • Font sizes
    • Colors
    • Column width adjustments

  • Save the changes to the table.
2. Reattempt Adding the Table:
  • Go back to Mail & Deploy and try adding the straight table to the Excel report again as a table object.
  • Test if the error persists after the styling reset.
3. Verify Data Consistency:
  • Ensure that all values in the straight table can be parsed correctly (e.g., no invalid or mismatched data types).
  • Check for special characters or improperly formatted data in calculated columns or expressions.
4. Update to the Latest Version:
  • Ensure that you are running the latest version of Mail & Deploy, as updates often include fixes for known issues.

Additional Tips:
  • If the issue persists, try exporting the straight table to Excel directly from Qlik to verify if the error is related to the data itself.
  • As a temporary workaround, if resetting styling doesn't work, continue using the table as an image until a permanent fix is implemented.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "Input string was not in a correct format" error and successfully add the straight table to your Excel report as a table object.
