System Requirements Mail & Deploy Version 3.0 and higher

Modified on Thu, 04 Apr 2024 at 11:01 AM

Here are the minimum hardware and software requirements for Mail & Deploy Version 3.0.

Requirements for Mail & Deploy Server

(on premise only)

The Server is the central component of every Mail & Deploy installation and has the following requirements:

  • An environment capable of executing 64-bit applications (Windows Operating system)
  • A windows account with local administrator rights to perform the installation.
  • At least 2 GB of hard disk space.
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • A windows account to be used as the Service Account which runs Mail & Deploy Server that fulfills all necessary requirements.
  • If you want to use Mail & Deploy with QlikView Documents, a local desktop client which is licensed for the Service Account needs to be installed and the respective QlikView Document (QVW) files need to be accessible through the file system from the computer on which Mail & Deploy Server shall be installed. Also, the Service Account needs to have the required file system permissions to access those files. We support QlikView versions that are still supported by Qlik.
  • If you want to use Mail & Deploy with Qlik Sense Apps, the respective Qlik Sense Server must be reachable from the computer on which Mail & Deploy Server shall be installed and the Service Account requires at least an Analyzer license for that instance of Qlik Sense. It should be a dedicated license.
  • if you want to use Mail & Deploy with Qlik Sense SaaS Apps, you will need an API key that has access to the App.
  • If you want to send e-mails from Mail & Deploy, you need the host, port, and optional username and password of the SMTP server

Other hardware requirements such as CPU cores/frequency and RAM strongly depend on the complexity of the individual Reports and Tasks which is why there is no general answer for this question.

Note: Mail & Deploy can be installed in the same server as Qlik Sense Enterprise or Qlik View Server.

Requirements for Service Account

(on premise only)

The service account is the windows account that runs the windows service that hosts Mail & Deploy Server.

The service account has the following requirements:

  • It  needs  to  be  a  local  administrator  on  the  machine  on  which  Mail  &  Deploy  Server  is installed and is required to have the right to run a windows service.
  • If you want to use Mail & Deploy with QlikView Documents, the service account needs to have a valid license for that QlikView Desktop Client; whether this license is valid can be tested by logging on to the machine that runs Mail & Deploy Server using the service account and then starting QlikView Desktop Client to check if the client displays a correct license (not a personal edition).
  • If you want to use Mail & Deploy with Qlik Sense Apps, the Service Account requires at least an Analyzer license for that instance of Qlik Sense. It should be a dedicated license.
  • Any additional permission required by the specific usage of Mail & Deploy (e.g. if you want to use Mail & Deploy to write report documents to a network share, the service account needs to have write permissions for that network share).

The service user needs to be provided during the Installation and can later be changed in the Server Configuration.

Requirements for Mail & Deploy Designer

(on premise and SaaS)

To design reports, users must configure Mail & Deploy Designer locally on their computers.

The requirements for the designer are:

  • An environment capable of executing 64-bit applications (Windows Operating system)
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • At least 500 MB of hard disk space.
  • Connectivity to Mail & Deploy Server.
    • On premise: The computers need to have a connection to the computer that runs Mail & Deploy Server and the firewall must not block the port used for the communication. The default ports are 14999 and 14998. These can be configured/changed in the Mail & Deploy's Management Console.
    • On SaaS: The computers need to have a connection to the computer that runs Mail & Deploy Server using port 443.
  • Microsoft Office (optional). If you want to design reports based on Microsoft Office formats then the respective Microsoft Office desktop application needs to be installed on the computer and properly licensed.

When connecting to a Mail & Deploy web user interface endpoint, the following browsers are supported:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge

Requirements for Mail & Deploy Hub

(on premise and SaaS)

Mail & Deploy Hub is a user interface that can be used by Users to request Reports and manage Tasks, Alerts, and Subscriptions. You can grant access to users by managing Permissions.

The hub can be accessed through a web browser by navigating to the Hub Service endpoint.
